Foreign company fined for illegal employment

A foreign company operating in Bangladesh for a long time has been fined EUR 10,000 for engaging foreign citizen illigally breaching employment laws of Bangladesh.

The concerned authority slapped the fine as the company employed the foreign citizen as it’s acting country manager who arrived in Dhaka on a visitor visa when the regular country manager went on leave.

The fine must be paid by March 24, according to the authority.

All foreign citizens are required obtaining employment visa and work permit before taking up any job in Bangladesh. Although illegal employment of foreign citizens were not strictly followed by the authorities in the past this has changed recently.
